Personages like Nostradamus, Cayce are related to this word in the eyes of both intellectuals and ordinary individuals. But there is an opposite of this word which is called postdiction which is not an everyday word unlike its popular counterpart. However, postdiction is as prevalent in the society as prediction is, though we might never know it.
Postdiction is a condition wherein you get a situation that had already passed and place a bias analysis on it. In the world of sports this is more commonly known as the Monday Morning Quarterback which popularize the infamous lines, “How can he leave Pedro Martinez in for the 8th inning?!?!?!?!”
