During the Event # 16: $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em, Amit Makhija joined the table and happen to get the biggest stacks in the event. Getting a little nap from the tournament he sat down with PokerNews to talk about the hand.
Makhija was asked about his strategy during the game, and his answer was, “I had been playing on the tight side. I had just won a coin flip and was up to 26,000 to start the hand. I was feeling good. I was playing tight, but every pot I played seemed to be a big pot.”
An excerpt from his statement about the hand, he said that, “So the opponent in this hand had not been opening very often, he’d been pretty tight, but when he did open, he had a lot of suited hands in his range.”
At the end of the day, he was able to get 90,000 chips. In line with the conversation, Makhija also cited to PokerNews that the hand was also prior to the newest edition of Calling the Clock.

Entitlement has been long discussed by philosophers and ordinary people alike. Do you think people receive what they truly deserve? In a perfect world that’s how things supposed to work. But we all know that’s how things happen.
Whenever you found a wallet full of money and return it to the owner, you are expecting that you’re going to obtain a reward for your honesty. The funny thing is that if you’ll do that nowadays, you’ll receive a thank you certainly but rewards, doubtful.

Winning the Triple Crown is the most coveted spot in poker. And as of today, only two people got all the prestigious events in their hands. One lucky guy is Roland De Wolfe who just got his last leg of the crown when he won the $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha 8 bracelet at the 2009 WSOP. Winning the Triple Crown means getting to triumph in 3 events and that would be from the World Poker Tour (WPT), European Poker Tour (EPT) and the World Series of Poker (WSOP). De Wolfe even wears a Union Jack track-suit on his final table during the event, showing that his proud to be an Englishman.
The first poker pro who won the Triple Crown was Gavin Griffin. He won in $3,000 Pot Limit Hold ‘Em in 2004 to gain his WSOP bracelet; he gained the EPT Grand Final Title in 2007 and he won the WPT Borgata Classic in 2008.

The entrants in the World Poker Tournament have decreased this year, around 25% smaller than last year. But the WSOP tournaments says a bit different with 3 out 9 events sold out at present. It only means that people are interested to enter but oddly no more rooms to crammed them in.
Looking for evidence? Let’s check the WSOP statistics from 2003 till the previous year. Year 2003 mark the win of Moneymaker and the WSOP only had 839 players. In 2004, the number of players have gone to 2,576, about three times more than the previous year. And then the jump to 5,619 in 2005 and 8,773 in 2006. WSOP series in 2007 and 2008 got 6,358 and 6,844 players respectively.

Professional poker players recognized talent when they see it. And if they have to pick out a player from a table then they would choose no other than Phil Ivey. Even though the general population doesn’t see Ivey on big tourneys.
He already have 8 Final Tables in the World Poker Tournament events and garnered one win. He also owned 6 WSOP bracelets though none of it are from Texas Hold ‘Em given that this poker game is the only one you can see in TV.
